Engaging Men and Boys

When it comes to addressing gender-based violence (GBV), we can’t do it without men and boys. Boys grow up watching and learning from the world around them, and we have a chance to guide them toward understanding respect, healthy relationships, and kindness. At the same time, men can be powerful allies and advocates, using their voices and actions to create real change.

At SAFE, we believe everyone has a role to play in building safer, more respectful communities. That’s why our Engaging Men and Boys program is all about bringing them into the conversation. Through workshops and events, we create spaces where men and boys can talk openly, ask questions, and challenge the harmful ideas about masculinity that hold us all back.

These aren’t lectures or one-sided talks—they’re honest, interactive discussions that help boys understand what it means to treat others with respect and empathy. For men, it’s about learning how to show up as allies, supporting survivors and helping to prevent GBV in their homes, workplaces, and communities.

We know it can feel like a big conversation to have, but it’s one worth having. Together, we can break down old stereotypes, encourage healthy masculinity, and show that real strength comes from respect and understanding.

If you want to be part of this important work, we’d love to have you join us. Contact SAFE today to learn more about our Engaging Men and Boys program. Together, we can build a future where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.

Lorraine is a kind, understanding, and determined advocate. She doesn't let her experiences define her - she let's them empower her. She uses her experience and knowledge to see the world as a place where you can always find support and get to a better place for yourself (something I have difficulty doing, as I tend to be very cynical). She is always willing to leave space for other people to occupy as they wish, and more importantly, she is always open to listening and learning. She isn't afraid of being told she is wrong. These things about her have made me feel more like I deserve a place in the world, when I haven't always felt that way. She has made me feel valued and trusted in me even when I've had little good to say about myself. When I'm with her, I feel enveloped in her kindness and warmth, and I feel very blessed to have her in my life.
