Community Engagement and Outreach

Finding the right help after experiencing abuse can be exhausting and overwhelming. Services can feel scattered, systems can be confusing, and survivors are often left wondering where to even begin. What makes it even harder is when there’s no one who truly understands what you’re going through. Having someone with shared experiences—someone who’s been there—can make all the difference.

At SAFE, we know how important it is to feel seen and heard. That’s why our Community Engagement and Outreach services are focused on connecting people with the resources they need while raising awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) in meaningful and approachable ways.

We work with organizations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to help survivors access services, workshops, and initiatives that can support their healing. But it’s not just about referrals—we’re also out in the community, hosting talks and sharing stories to demystify what GBV really looks like and how it affects people. By sharing survivor voices and breaking down stigma, we’re helping to create communities where survivors feel understood and supported.

We also keep our finger on the pulse of what’s needed. By listening to survivors and community members, we make sure our outreach is always responsive, relevant, and grounded in real experiences.

If you’re looking for help, want to bring awareness to your community, or just want to learn more about what we do, reach out to us. Let’s work together to build stronger, more connected communities where survivors are supported every step of the way. You’re not alone—and we’re here to help.

These statistics underscore the pervasive nature of GBV in Canada and highlight the need for continued efforts to address and prevent such violence.
